Join SFC for a day on the McKenzie! Our Annual Member’s Only Fall Event with the first Open Preserve Day of the Season will be held Saturday October 23, 2021 on the beautiful McKenzie Preserve.
Enjoy special activities, free hiking to the tabletop or along the Discovery Trail. Trail maps will be provided and docents will be stationed along the way for questions and to lend their expertise about this amazing Preserve and its unique ecological, geological and natural history. Due to Covid-19 cases and restrictions, we will be unable to provide food and drinks this year but we have plenty to offer!
Schedule:
- Open Preserve 9 AM to 3 PM – hike on your own from the Discovery Trail to the Table Top – guides and maps will be available
- Yoga and silent hike with Linda Marie at 10:00AM. Bring your mat and comfy clothes!
- Open hiking all day
- Enjoy music by the Dry Creek String Band!
- Birds of Prey demonstration at 1:30PM at our outdoor amphitheater
- We have some very exciting activities lined up, so do not miss out!
Registered SFC Docents and Volunteers are free!

- Gates close promptly at 3 PM – all hiking on the preserve must be concluded before that time and all participants must be safely off the Preserve.
- No Dogs are allowed on our Preserves with the exception of documented Service Animals. Please see our Visiting the Preserves page for more detailed information!
- Our Events are RAIN or SHINE – Sierra Foothill Conservancy regards the safety of our participants on our Preserves very highly so in the case of severe weather or the possibility of adverse impact on the land or the hike experience we reserve the right to cancel.
- One of the conditions of your participation does specifically release Sierra Foothill Conservancy, hold harmless as the owners of the property, and any of its employees or agents representing or related to hikes, classes, or projects offered by Sierra Foothill Conservancy while on the Property from any claims or liabilities of any kind whatsoever, arising from or related to my participation in these activities. - You also agree to grant to Sierra Foothill Conservancy and its authorized representatives permission to record on photography film and/or video, pictures of my participation.
