Join Botanist Chris Winchel for an exploration of one of the richest, most diverse botanical ecotones in our region. Sierra Foothill Conservancy’s Black Mountain Preserve is home to a multitude of habitat types with several rare plant species that are hard to find elsewhere, such as Carpenteria californica. The day will begin with a botanical field exploration, finding and identifying rare and interesting species and will end with an optional extra taxonomy-related component to gain a more detailed understanding of Black Mountain Fauna. There will also be an exciting ethnobotany component to the day. Meet at the park and ride at the bottom of the 4lanes at 9:00AM to carpool to the preserve.
