Upper
Finegold Creek Watershed Well
Water Quality Testing The
Millerton Area Watershed Coalition (MAWC) is offering well water quality testing
for interested landowners within the Upper Finegold Creek watershed.
This survey is being offered at less than 1/3 the typical cost.
All labor is provided at no charge – and only the cost for analyzing
the well water sample at a County Public Health Laboratory will be charged.
The laboratory analysis is $93.00. The
analysis will include: copper and lead, other metals, bacteria and
radioactivity. Funding to reduce
the typical cost of this comprehensive analysis has been made possible by a
grant from the CALFED Bay-Delta Watershed Program. Groundwater
quality and quantity within our local Sierra Nevada communities is becoming of
increasing importance due to potential economic and environmental impacts. More
information is being gathered to better understand local conditions of
groundwater used for drinking and other domestic purposes – as well as the
availability of water supplies. This
service will be provided to landowners through the training and employment of
members from our local foothill communities.
These individuals will be responsible for the proper collection of water
samples and delivery to the County Public Health Laboratory for analysis. Funding for this project has been provide in full or in part through an Agreement with State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) pursuant to the Costa-Machado Water Act of 2000 (Proposition 13) and any amendments thereto for the implementation of California’s Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Program.
